The Charging Bull

Imagine the surprise on Wall Street when on the 16th December 1989, stock brokers and financial traders found on their path the full size bronze statue of a bull. Five meters long, weighing 3.2 tons, underneath a Christmas tree. No one had commissioned the sculpture. The New York City Council and the mayor spent all day trying to understand how it founds its way there undetected by the police force. Behind the whole thing, the statue and its arrival on Wall Street was one of the most unusual and resourceful artists of modern times, the very colourful Arturo Di Modica. In this documentary, we travel from Sicily to Manhattan and examine his career and the vision that led to the creation of the ultimate symbol of financial might.
