You would think that the site of one of the most important monuments of Ancient Rome would have no place for animal life, but that could not be farther from the truth. “The Empire of Nature” examines the unique ecosystem at the heart of Rome on the grounds of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Thanks to a collaboration with the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, this world unto itself is finally revealed: an ecosystem that has flourished in the ruins of mankind’s greatest empire, and which has become an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between humanity’s urban expansion and the animal kingdom.
