At the beginning it was just a neighbourhood bar, but round the corner, laid the HQ of the Italian Communist Party (PCI), at least until the party changed its name. Vezio is the owner of the bar, and besides being a supporter of AS Roma, a genuine Communist. Every inch of the bar’s walls was covered with photos, flags, posters and newspaper clips about Communism. Common people, politicians, artists and intellectuals would crowd the tiny bar to read the newspapers, comment on the latest AS Roma matches or on the election results. The flitting of Vezio’s is a nostalgic and biting account about the end of an era, of a way to get together and of being involved with politics.
